couple more good shows, as expected the shows have improved. the other night in Jacksonville the boys partied near the beach, I switched with zac from the ghost inside and rode in their van to jims step mums house again, solid decision. good sleep, ate at wafflehouse, the dirtiest, ronnest place ever. I had a egg and cheese biscuit (similiar to a muffin but sweeter and oilier) for a dollar! sleep on a bed and a comfy drive to north carolina. ate subway in NC, veggie pattie on flat bread. the patty has the taste and texture of mock chicken and the flat bread is mixed between naan and roti. horse! show was good, a couple of ex military blokes who just got back from cairns loved us Aussies and bought us pbr beers all night. nice dudes! I slept in the van while the others had some drinks in a friends house to then stop by Baltimore around lunchtime. with time on our hands we sussed a vegan restaurant, glory! fake Philly cheese with marinated tofu, caramelized onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato, mayo and cheese with a pineapple, pear, Ginger and aloe vera juice. get those nutrients in me!! we then went for a walk around the harbor and city, first actual live life, accompanied by a pumpkin spice soy latte (yummm). a positive happy day i must say. back in the van to new jersey and facing a ‘lack’ of traffic! maybe we spent a bit too long in Baltimore… ahh well!

so Florida Pensacola wasn’t too bad, went for an arvo walk with ty out to the port, sea breeze and some fresh air! not too hot of a day but a typical floridan kind of day, humidddd! our vans were all dripping wet with condensation, external walls of buildings wet, even my bag sitting inside the van was damp feeling! fortunately the venue had plenty of a/c. so during ghost inside, I saw 3 huge security guards take a kid out by his neck and feet for jumping on someones back to sing along… they went to throw him out headfirst via the exit door – though the thick security heads had locked the exit door, not once but twice did the kids head smash the glass door to then drop to the floor. horrible to see! then saw a crazy drunk older bloke get arrested out the front, wild! America – coooool man!! none the less, had the best Ron of tour at a place I googled called Sluggos… sounds horrid but wow! first time to use a knife and fork on tour, crazy huh! huge salad, real mash potato with mushroom gravy, homemade chilli con carne, mock bacon, turkey and chicken club sanga, and some mock chilli chicken wings. thank you very much! after show shower and shave (thank goodness) and back on the road to south carolina.

super long drive, after a few hours sleep I jumped up as driver reviver and wow, soooo tired! some more ‘fresh’ subway and a few litres of water I got right for the day. drank the first real American beer today, pabst blue ribbon, blue collar beers you beauty! finally a bit of bitterness! so still settling in, over drives and touring in general but making some new good mates more and more as the tour goes on. I’m playing bass for ‘i want you back’ cover of Jackson 5 with the a loss for words boys in Detroit for a bit of fun, learnt that today by ear in the van with a pabst. that’s a good day for me! second actual good show of tour today next to the Dallas fest. had some fun so that’s all I can ask for. currently at Sparta from ghost insides step mums house between south Carolina and Florida, due for some sleep now. floor hang but being horizontal is horse. horses are good so anything good is horse. more lingo for ya xxx

so Houston Texas was a bit of a nothing, didn’t make it to the city, played some random suburb a fair way out. bummed me out as I was a Houston rockets fan as a kid, really wanted to see a stadium or a building even! ha! show was pretty good, although it got cut short due to some cool kids fighting. cops involved and ghost inside didn’t even get to play. currently sitting at a bar, not too happy about it. we have an overnight drive so it’s not the time to be social in my opinion. our two American lads have some friends so we are here, I’m being social – as in writing blog drafts on my phone, stone cold sober, caring much about being friendly. guess you can’t always get your own way on tour! struggling to get opportunities to live life, rarely around actual cities, ahh well.

safe in florida, longest overnight drive ever, did actually get some sleep though. it’s been too long between showers, we were supposed to get to a guys house before the show but due to a four hour, side of the road sleep we missed out. tough giggin!

none the less, here’s a photo of me happy with some local juice! haven’t had much to take photos of so this is the cream of the crop xx

so, a couple of gigs in now, Austin Texas was awesome! there is so much cliche here in texas, state trooper cops with cowboy hats, ridiculous amounts of pickup trucks, a constant livestock poo and grass odour and so on. great day in Austin, 30 degrees or so. on arrival I saw a shop called tears of joy, CHILLI SAUCE shop! straight after load in I flew over and wow, a whole shop dedicated to chilli. I went in and spoke to the owner who was cooking hot sauce out the back, he sent me to the tester table and boom, chilli hits! ended up paying a bit extra and got the In house homemade Austin Texas Tears of joy chilli sauce. now I can eradicate the insufficient level of heat within the taco bell sauce range. then vigil, hartley and I went on an hour round trip walk to the Stevie ray Vaughn memorial statue on the river, awesome walk and day. show was an outdoor gig, we went on earlier due to the openers van troubles which was ok, still light but was fun. Headed out on 6th street at night, big night! got to bro down with the other bands, some of the guys from the Boston band are some real good dudes. I ended up on a mechanical bull, some brilliant footage that is a laugh and some more, I think the bull copped a few punches by myself, it ain’t easy!! 6 hour drive today to Wichita falls Texas, more taco bell, with added hot sauce ;). pretty shitty show tonight, a handful of goats, cool man cool. This is the last B market show so it’s all up from here.

just so you know, when I have downtime I type so the days might be out. as in today we are in Dallas, playing a fest, on at 4pm. just had the first healthy meal at wich wich, like a gourmet subway. currently at starbucks on free wifi with a soy latte and a banana! YES!! here are a couple of pics that may relate to above text.

i want to be in america….

helloooooo! so actually being within America is no pipe dream any more! after a horrible flight (heappppps of turbulence), too many rum and drys (when will I learn my lesson) and some cool movies (new Zealand movie Boy ) we landed to a rainy LA. couple of obsticles jumped at LAX with record histories we got out into American ‘fresh’ air. to then neet up with matty (american bass player) and lukey (merch) we jump into a sweet ride set off for lubbock Texas – 19 hours. within minutes taco bell was consumed, you little ripper! … also to note is refillable root beer arrggghhh! for your knowledge this time around I’m doing a burrito report rather than an everyday Ron report – updates in due time! drank some bud light beer, four locos (12pcent malt liquor infused with red bull characteristics, can’t believe it’s legal!). many hours chatting and not enough sleeping we crossed LA into arizona into new Mexico into Texas – phew!! traveled on route 66, heard a range of intering accents, ate at dennys diner in new Mexico – only whites in the place, filled with American Indians. arrived at the ghost insides hotel and managed to get some sleep (I got the last remaining bed woooo). today first show, 2 burritos for breakfast – full from $1.40! will be Ron on arrival home. bought new vans shoes (usually $90 at home), 6 plain awesome stafford thirts, a sleeping bag, comfy slippers, 4 pairs of jocks, 6 pairs of socks $100! boom!! about 30 degrees in Texas, no backstage, van hangs including a tent canopy thing that the ghost inside bring on tour. said to ty earlier I missed home 😦

just arrived in Austin Texas after a yes and no overnight drive. Jj got us a motel room that has breaky and net…after completion of this I’ll get some extra sleep real bad! show was ok last night, lubbock Texas was an added show to the tour so it was average at best but a perfect run through for matty who did real well on bass. more after show late night Ron, mock meat veggie burger and seasoned fries (like shoe string wedges) from denny’s. so hard to eat well over here already although I consumed a banana with breaky yiewwwwww (tasted like it was grown in a sugar field though)!! I’m blogging from my phone so I will just upload a couple of pics in no real order. love to all xxx

taco bell madness

wallmart view. biggest big w/kmart style place ever. good’s till you can’t see! (this is a look from the left hand side, the same to the right and even more length in front, mental!)

our ride! so much more comfort vs the ol Aussie 12 seater! we each have a bench to ourselves with our mate from endwell, scuzz driving us. I feel like I have regained some manlihood being involved with this unit, no disrespect to your yaris tara 😉

as im finishing this blog, im reminded of a main part of why touring life isnt wearing thin on me. a pic i found online suggests this (i took an audio recording of lukey but couldnt upload it). F or a word of the like fits in perfect here. looks like im awake and on edge now, cool man cool….

Tour Over

So its all said and done! glad but not.

Im gonna go back and rehash a bit!

Faro. The Ghost Inside and ourselves played song for song. Quick changeovers and a good laugh. Made the show a hit, easily one of the funnest shows on tour! In between band moshing, in band sing alongs, band member circle pits in the crowd, mid song beer/gin skulling, milne half naked giggin, 30 second songs, and many inner band laughs! A dull small paying show turned into a ripper! good giggin!

Night time some of the lads went out, another night in with use of shower and an average internet hang (where i spoke to you mum and tara). milne fell off the top bunk on to barnos’s bed, he stayed there, so i had two heads snoring in my head all night. Rough night sleep but made up for a great following day. We convinced our drivers to take us to the algarve in lagos, portugal. 50km out of the day and wow, was it worth it. Here are some snaps from my phone.

A day followed by a calipo icypole in the shade thank goodness! to the 3hour hot drive to lisbon! Pulled up at the venue which was on the ‘poorer’ side of lisbon. Right on the water, and next to the ferry. After load in a couple of us jumped on the return ferry for 2 euros and lived life

Awesome city. Lots of small streets that tie in together, with a big night life district, alternative, lots of bars in the streets, young people hanging, big open lookout over the city (which i took a photo of but doesnt come across near what it should). A great shot that i loved was this old lady, hanging out the front of her house, on the balcony, bird cage next to her. I gave her a wave and asked if we could take a photo, i think she said yes! HA!

Alot of the buildings i noticed were tiled instead of brick, render etc which i found interesting, here is an example…

I went into an Info shop and got the lady to suss out the location of any vegetarian restaurant to have a ganda, she gave us a map and we started the trek to Terra Vegetarian Restaurant

and what a worthy mission! This was the best food of tour, rated a solid 5 out of 5 rons, vegetarian gourmet buffet. I will never forget this meal haha!  Featured here Mock teriyaki shish kebabs, kidney been mushroom and sausage stew, fresh sauteed spinach, spanish potatoes, broccoli, vegie pizza, vegie meat balls…

Featured here mock chicken spicy rice, chick pea salad, kidney bean onion and tomato salad, fresh spinach leaves, underneath is an eggplant snitzel, fresh falafel balls, and more vegie meat balls. SELFISH RON!!! WIN!

After the massive meal we lost our direction, wandered the streets in a full ron daze, found our way with some local help back to the ferry then the gig, fun show, hotel on the beach, started to feel a bit nasely and throaty after the gig, ahh well.

Bananas and croissant for breaky, Lisbon to Vigo drive was a 6 or so hour process in the sun. Hot. Arrived late to the show and had no time to live, great venue with the whole back of the stage covered in LED lights. looked like a U2 video clip or something!! As each band was on the led’s lit up the bands name which was pretty cool. Successful gig, 250 payers, awesome show. After our final encore, aaron the ghost insides guitarist jumped on the drums, sim the break even drummer jumped on bass, zac and myself on guitar and casey ghost inside drummer on vocals and we covered a classic pennywise song brohym, which has a huge singalong ‘wooooooo’ chorus, finished the tour on a massive high, crowed loved it and it was just one of those moments. Grabbed a crew shot before we left for the overnight drive to the airport, for a final goodbye until next time ….

Quicky

Hellllooooo! Just a quick update as we’re checking out in 5 mins. Faro show was a higlight, Lisbon was awesome, had a great day and night yesterday where I’ll go into detail when I can. Gig was good, it’s really hot, and feels like I’m getting sick last day of tour, not cool at all. Trying to get ontop of it of course! Last show of tour tonight, then Madrid tomorrow. XXX
